Vincent Castiglia

Vincent Castiglia works in the tradition of surrealism and visionary art. In his works, Beauty and decay conjugate in a superlative act to objectify a seamless truth within the desperation of the human condition. The figures that infuse Castiglia’s work, in his view, mirror an inevitable aspect of human existence (consequent nonbeing) and abstract the experiential bridge (life), in an effort to evidence the symbiotic relationship between the two for the viewer. When asked for his artist statement, the artist replies, “My paintings tend to depict iconographic forms, vital and necrotic juxtapositions, and reinterpretations of transpersonal experience.”
